Role

UX / UI Designer

Project

FairFlow is a design library created during the final phase of the UX/UI Design Master at Talent Garden. The goal: empower small and medium-sized nonprofit organizations in Italy by giving them the tools to run transparent donation campaigns and engage their communities more effectively.

Problem Statement

Italy has over 360,000 Third Sector entities. Many donors hesitate to contribute due to a lack of transparency, while organizations often rely on manual tools for organization, fragmented communication, and outdated workflows.

Research

I conducted 11 qualitative interviews with representatives of local NGOs, volunteers and donors, including voices from Lega del Cane, 2Hands, AVS, and more. Additionally, I benchmarked 10+ platforms such as GoFundMe, Patreon, ActionAid, and CSVnet.

Key findings:

  • 70% of users don’t know how their donations are used

  • 80% of small organizations rely on WhatsApp, Facebook or spreadsheets

  • Donors want impact visibility, not just a thank-you email

  • Volunteers seek involvement, not just generic calls to action

Solution

FairFlow is a modular white-label that allows any nonprofit to:

  • launch and manage donation campaigns with real-time progress tracking

  • communicate transparently with supporters using updates and media

  • personalize the experience with their own branding (logo, colors, content)

  • include news, events and calls for participation

The prototype includes 40+ responsive screens, light/dark themes, placeholder content and an onboarding tailored to different user mindsets. Components were built using atomic principles and organized into a scalable design library, facilitating future development in Flutter or similar frameworks.

Outcome

The project was pitched at Talent Garden in June 2025.

Associations expressed interest in testing the platform in pilot versions.
FairFlow is designed to become an open-source base that NGOs can adopt, extend or request support for.
